A refreshing alternative to the standard late- night, alcohol-fueled Las Vegas lounge scene, the Orchid Lounge at Mandalay Bay presents afternoon and early evening entertainment, accompanied by a selection of pastries, coffees and other light snacks. The atmosphere in this tropical-style oasis is light and airy and the music emanating from inside is right in sync with the South Seas theme of the resort. Nouveau, a duo comprised of Wayne Gray on keyboards and saxophone and TJ Bonee` on vocals, has practically become a house band. Their smooth, enticing mix of R&B, reggae and gospel has found an enthusiastic local following. -- David Hofstede
