Can a neighborhood nightspot located miles from the Strip compete with the hottest clubs in the city's biggest resorts? If The Whiskey (formerly known as Whiskey Bar) can't do it, it can't be done. Owner Rande Gerber combines elements from his earlier triumphs, Sky Bar in Los Angeles and the Whiskey Bar in New York, but the chance to see Gerber's wife, supermodel Cindy Crawford, may be reason enough for guys to make the trek out to Green Valley. Patrons enter through 2,000-pound doors and descend a white plastic staircase into the lounge area, which features an unparalleled view of the Strip. The property's southern location and higher altitude means that everything from the Luxor Pyramid to the Stratosphere Tower is visible in one long, light-filled panorama. The Whiskey has a mixed decor, with kitschy futuristic elements vying for attention with cozy, dark paneling reminiscent of a suburban living room in the 'Wonder Years' era. There's a separate room for dancing and a few private compartments with large canopied beds and flat-screen TVs. You're on your own in there.
