Unless you manage to get comped, playing golf in Las Vegas can be an expensive endeavor. Sometimes a losing session at the craps table is cheaper than a round on the green. Some of the nicest and most affordable courses are at Angel Park. The club is a 36-hole layout, with a 12-hole par- 3 course and a natural grass putting course. The Mountain course is the tighter of the two 18-hole tracks, while Palm is more forgiving. If you're up for the challenge, the Mountain course, at an elevation of 2,800 feet, delivers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the Las Vegas skyline. Demanding par-3s and undulating greens are a challenge to all golfers. The Cloud Nine offers scaled-down copies of 12 famous holes from around the world, with a replica of the Sawgrass Island Green hole one of the highlights. Winds make this one an extremely challenging hole, though. And don't write off the putting course as mere "mini golf." This one is tough, complete with natural grass and sand traps. -- Denise Fondo
