Expect the unexpected at the Beaux Arts Ball, Las Vegas' gala night and costume contest at Studio 54. The ball, now in its 39th year, is known for the creative -- and bold -- outfits worn by guests. With prizes of more than $1,900, the more outlandish the costume, the better your chance of winning. Some examples from previous years: a man wearing nothing but a pumpkin, a 7-foot-tall robot and a guest whose dress was made entirely out of purses. Categories include best overall costume, best group costume (three or more people), and sexiest outfit. The costume contest is only a small part of what's made the Beaux Arts Ball a hit. Performers from the Strip's top shows get on stage in a display of talent and camaraderie -- casts from 'Folies Bergere' (pictured), 'Jubilee!' The Vamps and the Chippendales dancers top the bill. The event is DJ'ed by Lisa Pittman and hosted by "King" Chris Nicholson and "Queen" Georgie Bernasek. The Beaux Arts Costume Ball is a fund-raiser for Golden Rainbow, which provides housing and financial assistance to people with AIDS/HIV in Southern Nevada.
