Perhaps things have changed since the last posting before mine; it was in 2001; two years later, mine and my husband's experience in the Canyon Ranch Spa at the Venetian Hotel was dismal. We were hustled, a dozen or more at a time, through the massage process, in cookie-cutter-like fashion; Amy was a disappointment as my massage therapist. Her goal was to exert as little effort as possible in 50 minutes. Further, Canyon Ranch staff advised previously to arrive early enough for a steam sauna, to loosen the muscles in preparation for a more effective massage. On the day of our visit, the women's steam room was out of order, so any benefit from a steam sauna, did not exist. There were no private changing rooms, for those who might be shy about being naked in a busy roomful of women. If you are going to visit a Canyon Ranch Spa, go to the Gaylord Palms location in Orlando. It is a breath of fresh air, compared to the move-'em-in-and-move-'em-out mentality at the Canyon Ranch Spa in Las Vegas. The salon staff, however, was a different story, experts in their field and professoinals doing fine work and creating a pleasant and relaxing environment. The salon experience was a delight but not enough to overcome the big disappointment in the spa.
