El Cortez Hotel & Casino   

I haven't stayed anywhere else since I found this place. I come to Vegas 3 or 4 times a year and you cannot beat the atmosphere! The staff is always friendly and make you feel special. Visit Bob the best bartender...........He's at the lobby bar!!!!!!!!! He's the best!

Wonderful friendly atmosphere...the employees give you personal attention always making you feel very special. We come to Vegas from Florida three times a year for at least three weeks and play at the El Cortez ONLY.

Best place to stay for the budget minded, and a great place for gaming. Only reason I don't give this place five stars is the location; technically it is downtown, but it's really a two block walk to get to the cluster. The joint is much nicer than it used to be. It's being extensively remodeled inside. All rooms are now competitive with most places in town (except their kinda small and dinky bathrooms), and the prices are great. New light fixtures in the casino are. New bars. New checkin desk. Etc. The gaming is probably the best in town. Craps is always 10x odds and bet minimum usually only $3. Blackjack is almost always single deck (albeit with auto shuffle machines, which I hate), with at least one $3 table at all times. Slots and VP machines are plentiful and not too tight, and the isles are now opened up so there's plenty of room to move around. Food is getting better. They've just opened a chinese buffet for the dinner crowd (haven't tried it yet), and a Subway franchise is going in soon. I've played and stayed all over this town in the 25 years I've been regularly visiting, now going for a week at a time every few months. I now find myself not really wanting to play/stay anywhere else but the El Cortez except for an ocassional walk-abouts for variety. It meets all my needs.
