Greek Isles Hotel & Casino was once the Debbie Reynolds Hotel & Casino and briefly owned by World Wrestling Entertainment. The new owners have now turned the location into a Greek-themed establishment; thankfully, you won't find any Princess Leia standees or wrestling slots left over from its earlier incarnations. Instead you get a nice (if not elegant) resort that caters to time-share owners and non-owners alike. The hotel offers 207 newly refurbished rooms (including 43 suites) that feature a coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board and pillow-top mattresses in each room. There's also a large outdoor pool and Jacuzzi, valet and laundry service, and if guests feel like being pampered they can do so at the in-house health club. The 7,000-square-foot casino has 100 slot machines (with games such as Megabucks, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy) and electronic versions of blackjack, roulette and craps. Live table games in the gaming area provide plenty of fun, too. Entertainment: Greek Isles offers nightly entertainment in the showroom. There's also Sandy Hackett's Comedy Club, featuring some of the best stand-up in town. And if you're in a marrying mood, take your betrothed to the Princess Chapel, dubbed "the most beautiful wedding chapel in Las Vegas" (we'll let her decide). Dining: If you've worked up an appetite from gambling or getting married, then look no further than Yanni's, the hotel's Greek-American restaurant open 24 hours a day. Guests dine on traditional Greek fare while enjoying the entertainment of the Greek Isles Belly Dancers. -- Jack Herrguth

Vegas joint on shakey legs...
By stevensonsongs on 02/06/2008
The Greek Isles is a small, "old school" Vegas joint that's survived close to four decades of name changes, changing times and periods of economic uncertainty. From being the "Royal Vegas" in the '70's, "The PaddleWheel" in the '80's and bouncing from Debbie Reynolds pet project to a ill-advised wrestling themed casino owned by Vince McMahon in the 1990's. It's current incarnation as a Greek themed joint has lasted quite awhile with varying degrees of success. Rumors abound now in the early months of 2008 that the property is up for sale or has already been sold and that'll suffer the same fate as many other "old Vegas" casinos like "The LandMark", "The Dunes" and "The Stardust" have experienced. Huge amounts of employees left jobless and the building imploded with onlookers cheering on the big "BOOM!" and clouds of dust. The current staff are doing the best job they can do with the materials that are provided. The cage personnel are always friendly and happy to help and the security staff are helpfull and knowledgeable. Now the restaurant is ****** and the decor leaves you feeling like you've stepped back in time to 1985 and it looks like that was the last year the place was really cleaned. But if you need a room close to the Convention Center and prefer smaller casinos with old school charm, you could do a lot worse than the Greek Isles. 3 Stars. Horrible Place
By pongguy on 02/01/2006
I saw the Rat Pack show at Greek Isles with my wife. When we arrived by cab to the hotel, we were horrified by the looks of it. Our tickets were prepaid, so we went in, but the place is a dive. Really horrible. It looks like a bunch of low-lifes and losers work there. I would not recommend staying there, eating there or seeing a show there. On the Las Vegas Strip you can get a much nicer place for the same amount of money. You just have to shop around a little. Greek Isles stinks!!!!!!
