The brewpub trend has finally leveled off, though the ones that survive still do a brisk business. The Monte Carlo Pub & Brewery is the only facility of its kind on the Las Vegas Strip, and certainly ranks as one of the biggest, flashiest and most fun; just what you might expect from any place with the confidence to set up shop along the city's most famous stretch of real estate. The main attraction is obvious from the huge brewery tanks that greet you when you walk in the door. Some 100,000 gallons of suds are brewed annually here, yielding selections that include Silver State Stout, a dry, Irish-style blend; High Roller Red, a full-bodied amber ale; Jackpot Pale, a golden, slightly bitter brew with a robust hop aroma, and the best root beer you've ever tasted. Even the beer bong hasn't gone out of style here (in fact, it's the best value for your money). The pubs "giraffe carafes" come in two different sizes: 2.5 for about $19 or five liters for $28. But it isn't all about the beer; there are some things you can do while drinking. After 9PM, the pub is open only to those 21 and older; nighttime events include hot legs contests, radio remotes, DJs and video mixes. There's also an extensive menu that includes appetizers such as shrimp and oysters, gourmet wraps, brick-oven pizzas, salads and sandwiches. The Steak & Stein special -- a T-bone steak and 16-ounce beer -- is a popular choice, and you can dance off the excess calories when the house band starts playing at 9:30 nightly. Or, just relax and enjoy a sporting event on one of the 32 large-screen televisions around the seating area.

Still making beer?
By PAHRUMPSUE on 06/21/2008
It's my understanding that this brew pub quit making beer at the brew pub several months ago. The report was that they left the brew tanks in for looks. If so, where does the beer come from now? I don't know. The food and drink were both great and it used to be one of my favorite places, but I quit on it and switched to Big Dog Brewing which has three small pubs in the area.
