Rate and Write a Review Legendary course architect Tom Fazio teamed up with none other than Steve Wynn himself to design this lush course in the Wynn hotel's backyard. Players have to negotiate water placement on 11 of the 18 holes on the challenging 7042-yard par-70 course -- a fairly uncommon hazard in Vegas' desert habitat. To maximize the beauty and difficulty, marshlands were incorporated; yet to minimize environmental impact, they utilize natural groundwater. To create the impression of a mature course, towering 50-year-old trees were transplanted from the former Desert Inn Golf Course. Fazio, known for designing opulent courses like Newport Beach's Pelican Hill, is a master of using the landscape's contours and select grass to stymie any ball that wanders off-margin. However, unless you are staying at the hotel, you won't be able to experience the challenge for yourself; the course is open only to Wynn guests, which combined with exorbitant greens fees, ensures exclusivity. Finishing off a round next to the 37-foot waterfall at hole 18 reminds you that nothing in Las Vegas, especially something with Steve Wynn's name on it, is understated.
