Rate and Write a Review After a few months of uncertainty, Event Center Las Vegas (formerly Sports Center Las Vegas) reopened to the public in early 2004, though it's got a new name and a different array of activities. The indoor facilities, including the rock-climbing wall and nine-hole putting challenge, are now available only to private parties, with advance reservations required. The park's two most popular areas, its Slugger Stadium Baseball Park and NASKART go-cart track, remain open to the public. The Big Thrills: Both of these marvelously themed play areas exceed expectations. Touted as "The World's Best Baseball Batting Facility," Slugger Stadium allows the baseball fan to take hacks in the batter's box with realistic stadium features, including 100,000 square feet of outfield space and a three-dimensional Studio Set Homerun Wall depicting several major-league ballparks. There are 16 batting stations offering everything from slow softball pitches to big-league fastballs. Those with a need for speed head to Victory Lane, where drivers zoom through a slalom go-cart course designed by NASCAR superstar Jeff Gordon. Must-Have Admission Info: The park is open year-round. Given the uncertainty that has plagued the park in its recent history, however, it's advisable to call before visiting to confirm what's open, the hours of operation and the cost of admission. Food is no longer served at the park, but there's a McDonald's one half-mile south at Las Vegas Boulevard and Warm Springs Road.
