Some former reality TV refugees head to Hollywood to parlay their 15-minutes of fame into something bigger. Others, like 'Survivor' alum Sue Hawk, hightail it to Sin City and open a juice bar. Located in a mini-mall on the northwest side of town, Hawk's tropical-themed smoothie oasis boasts the subtitle: "because life's a challenge." And what better way to survive the Vegas heat than with an ice-cold beverage? The drink menu features a wide array of yogurt and sherbet-based fruit blends, as well as a number of decadent chocolate, coffee and peanut butter-based ice cream concoctions. Fact is, you just might mistake Juices for other popular smoothie chains -- if it weren't for the less-than-subtle infiltration of Sue's 'Survivor' memorabilia. A poster-sized, verbatim version of her scathing 'Survivor' speech takes a prominent spot on the entrance wall, including her less-than-friendly remarks aimed at Richard (Hatch) and Kelly (Wiglesworth). She's even named a smoothie after her tribal experience: the Survivor Grave, a particularly hearty drink blending banana, yogurt, honey and peanut butter. Zebra-patterned seating complete the nook's tribal nod. Soft pretzels, bagels, granola, chili and hotdogs round out the munchie menu. -- Kelle Schillaci

On the contrary...

Actually, Survivor Sue bought Juices Wild from Don Cox, who opened the store in the late 90's. (he was also responsible for the Pretzel maker kiosks in the local malls) I worked at the Lake Mead/Buffalo location briefly in 1998 before leaving Vegas. I was also the originator of the "appleberry Bonanza" smoothie(not sure if it is still on the menu) I enjoyed the products which Juices Wild offered, such as wheat grass juice(good stuff) as well as the wide assortment of fresh fruits and veggies available for any number of fresh juice concoctions. Soy Yogurt, real juice concentrates(not syrups) Sourdough bread bowls for Chili...The place was welcoming and fairly priced as well.
