Rate and Write a Review Las Vegas was on track for a San Francisco-themed resort a few years ago, but the deal fell through. Fortunately, we already have a slice of the "city by the bay" at the MGM Grand's Nob Hill restaurant. An off-shoot of its "Frisco" predecessor, this upscale brass-and-glass eatery blends the most famous delicacies of its hometown with new specialties created by chef Michael Mina. No other city, with the possible exception of New Orleans, boasts a more superb local cuisine than San Francisco, and Mina has done a remarkable job of transferring the flavors of the original Nob Hill to Las Vegas; 80% of the ingredients that go into each dish are imported from the Bay area. From the basket of hot sourdough bread, through the Narsai's lamb chops or Celery Victor with whipped potatoes, to the Ghiradelli chocolate-infused desserts and Berkeley favorite Peet's fine coffee, there is authenticity in every course. Note that desserts are prepared from scratch and must be ordered before the meal. -- David Hofstede
