Phillies 7, Dodgers 5 (Read Recap | Check Box Score)
Shane Victorino kept his sizzling postseason going with a game-tying home run that just snuck out of Dodger Stadium in the eighth inning. Boosted by Victorino, the Phillies won Game 4 to take a 3-1 lead in the NLCS.

Pinch hitter Matt Stairs, middle, followed Victorino with a two-run blast of his own that put the Phillies ahead for good. Thanks to Stairs, ace Cole Hamels will take the mound Wednesday with a chance to clinch Philadelphia's first World Series trip since 1993.

Pitching on short rest, Derek Lowe put together a solid outing (5 IP, 2 ER) and gave the Dodgers a chance to win. L.A. manager Joe Torre might face some second-guessing after pulling Lowe at the 74-pitch mark.

Closer Jonathan Broxton faltered in a key spot for Los Angeles, surrendering the go-ahead homer to Stairs after he was brought in to maintain a 5-all tie.

Third baseman Casey Blake appeared to give the Dodgers the momentum they would need to even the NLCS at 2-2 when he homered in the sixth inning to give Los Angeles the lead.

Rays 9, Red Sox 1 (Read Recap | Check Box Score)
B.J. Upton and the Rays pulled off a stunner in Game 3 of the ALCS, battering Boston ace Jon Lester to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Upton went deep for the fifth time this postseason as Tampa Bay routed the Red Sox.

Evan Longoria also struck a big blow -- clearing the Green Monster in left field with solo home run as part of Tampa Bay's four-run second.

Because of the manner of defeat, the Red Sox appear to be reeling. Lester hadn't allowed an earned run in his two previous starts in the playoffs, but now that their best pitcher has been knocked around, the Sox must turn to Tim Wakefield or Daisuke Matsuzaka just to send the series back to Tampa Bay for Game 6.

Matt Garza struggled in his first postseason start against the White Sox in the ALDS, but he was terrific in Game 3, taking advantage of a generous strike zone to shut down the Red Sox for six innings.

In a particularly satisfying personal moment, Rocco Baldelli joined the home run parade to help the Rays put the game out of reach. Baldelli has battled numerous injuries over the past few years and was diagnosed with a mitochondrial disorder before this season.
