Canterbury Ales   

Transporting the ambience and flavor from across the pond, Canterbury Ales creates a pub presence in Huntington Village, which comes as a refreshing deviation from some of the nearby "meat market" bars. Not that there isn't meat here -- it's just in the form of English brown beef stew, shepherd's pie or the popular Archbishop of Canterburger (a burger topped with ham, mushrooms, bacon, green peppers, and Swiss and American cheeses). Beer-tasting dinners are held several times a year (the kitchen isn't afraid to mix the ales and lagers into some of the dishes, either), and the beer list runs the gamut from Pilsner Urquell and Guinness on tap to exotic and standard bottled beer from around the globe. -- Jennifer Gidman Zumpano
