The American post-war years were all about plenty, and that's exactly what you'll find at this Nautical Mile fish house, which goes through large quantities of lobster, steak, mussels and oysters. The New England Clambake for two is perfect if you're on a date, and includes 1 1/2 lbs of luscious steamed lobsters, mussels, steamers and a side of potatoes or rice. Once you're comfortably seated, order a fresh squeezed screwdriver and soak up the decor, which is elegant and may remind you of an old-fashioned steakhouse, with plenty of dark wood, linen and signs in a font that hasn't been seen since the days of cigarette holders and flappers. There's an outdoor patio that cranks in summer, and the perfect perch to relish seafood kabobs with salmon, tuna, swordfish and vegetables.

My sister and I visited this restaurant several weeks ago. As regular patrons of various Nautical Mile restaurants, we decided to try Hudon & McCoy. We left our names and the front desk at what seemed to us to be the hostess desk. We were told the wait for a table was approximately 30 minutes later. After about 40 minutes we approached the "hostess" to determine how much longer our wait would be. It appeared that our name was misplaced or overlooked. We were shown a table in the back of the restaurant. We asked if we could have a table outside. The hostess said no, that we should have asked for a table outside when we arrived at the restaurant. Apparently there are two hostess stations (although no one was standing at the outside station when we arrived at the restaurant). The problem I had with the restaurant is that the staff was completely rude and arrogant and made absolutely no attempt whatsover to accomodate our request for an outside table. I will still go to Nautical Mile but I will NEVER EVER GO TO HUDSON & MCCOY. I will also tell everyone I know that the service and staff at this restaurant is terrible.

I love this place. I have been going every summer for 3 years in a row, and every time I go . . . it gets better and better. They have a band on thursday night called Mystic... GREAT BAND. 20's-30's hang out. Trendy but not snotty!! (( A+ )) The days to go is Thur, Fri, Sat and Sun . . . They have tuesday nights, but if your 40's-50's it's purrrrrfect! Enjoy this summer.... Head over to Hudson's PS. I don't eat there much, but the few times I did...the food was just fine . . .expensive ?$?$?$? (not really) . . .your eating out ... live a little!

Love Hudson McCoy!

Aside from being a great looking place, in the summertime it's fun to sit upstairs and people watch, in the winter it's nice and cozy. The mussels are to die for and the chocolate key lime pie is worth the trip. Also make sure to try the filet mignon springrolls (do not leave without trying them!), and the coconut shrimp- crispy and full of flavor, not greasy.

Sorry

Wanted to enjoy a restaurant in Freeport, but disappointed again. Overpriced for fair food. If you want good Italian food don't go Little Italy. If you want good seafood don't go to Freeport.
