Rate and Write a Review A year after the end of the First World War, Pasquale Iavarone arrived with his wife at Ellis Island, determined to make a new life for his family in Brooklyn. With four Neapolitan friends, the Iavarone pork store was formed and introduced many non-Italian Brooklynites to southern Italian delicacies like coppa and prosciutto. Almost 90 years later, Pasquale's descendants are doing the same thing at their several locations, including the Wantagh branch, which boasts all the Mediterranean treats the fratelli Iavarone have been selling for so long, like Cacciota with black truffle, Italian Fresh Asiago, Spanish Manchego, sweet soppresata, capicola, mortadella, and Genoa salami. If you can't choose, try ordering a bit of everything with an antipasto sampler tray with eggplant rollatini, mozzarella en carozza, stuffed mushrooms, friend capellini cakes, and stuffed zucchini. A final word of advice: After almost 90 years of making sausage, these brothers may have perfected the process, so order some of that too.
