Most of New York's homesick Irish would give anything to taste their mother's cooking, which explains why Katie Daly's is so popular with ex-pats -- and well-known for steaming plates of bangers and mash with caramelized onion gravy, and corned beef and cabbage. If you want the Irish works, call and ask about the live Irish dinner show on Sunday nights, when you'll get an earful of The Shamrocks or Tommy Mulvihill to accompany your steak on garlic bread, which goes down a treat with a pint of something black and smooth. In a neighborhood dominated by Italian bistros, this is one restaurant where old fashioned Irish gravy is the sauce of choice, and comes splashed over the sorts of dishes your ma made for you after school all those years ago.

Blows Paddys Loft away
By msirishamerican on 06/23/2005
Finally!!! An Irish restaurant that has delightful food and owners that are generous. Sean Harrington and Sean Reilly (who also own Jackie Reillys in Bethpage) renovated this place last year and did a terrific job! A room downstairs is available for private parties and the manager does a great job ensuring all needs are met, unlike other Lofts around town, these owners don't overcharge their patrons and are very generous in portions and buy backs!

Completely rejuvenated Irish gem! Food was terrific, generous portions, have gone back 3 times w/different friends...on the mark each night. Irish coffee at the bar topped off a great time. New owners on the ball here!
