You don't have to travel into the city to take in some good art. Southampton is home to the Parrish Art Museum, which in turn houses a collection of 19th- and 20th-century American art. Highlights include paintings by William Merritt Chase and Fairfield Porter, who lived and worked in the area. In addition to the permanent collection, keep in mind the museum also plays host to films, music and concerts -- as well as a popular gala benefit each summer. Just walking by? Peek through the iron fence and catch a glimpse of the exquisite sculpture garden.
