With soft lighting and swanky ultra-modern furnishings, this American-Hawaiian restaurant looks more like a swank Manhattan lounge than a waterside tiki hut. The huge dining room is a mix of private booths and communal tables. The handsome, late-night bar and cozy fireside lounge are perfect for people-watching, or working up the courage for that first kiss. On weekends, the restaurant cooks until midnight, serving up Honu lettuce cups of wok-seared chicken and black trumpet mushrooms with a Thai chili sambal dipping sauce, and a Maui mahi crusted with panko and pulverized macadamia nuts and laced with a roasted banana sauce. It would be criminal not to mention the bar scene, which cranks until the early hours and puts many area night clubs to shame. On Friday and Saturday nights, as the restaurant thins, the bar area swells with dancers. While the food is not as expensive as you'd imagine from the surroundings, the drinks are. Still, one or another of their analgesic concoctions will dull the pain of sticker shock.

Fun

A group of friend decided to try the new Blue Honu. We loved it the pumpking tortellini was delicious, as was the french fries and mac and cheese. My toasted coconut martini was delicious. I loved the upscale but relaxed atmosphere. The dinner is served at this huge tables and you sit on these comfy couches with tons of room, and privacy. Cant wait to go again.

Very small food but BIG MONEY
By landsteam on 07/25/2007
The drinks are still good but the new food menu is not worth it. The new small plates are very small but expensive for what for get. I paid $13 for 5 small bite sizes steak slices, $9 for 6 tiny beets and $15 for 2 shrimps. I don't think most people would be happy with the new menu.

SO AWESOME!

If you ordered a full steak at any high class restaurant it would be $35!!! Instead, Honu is a GREAT deal-- I had delicious bites of four different things and paid only $40 with a cocktail!! Love the new vibe- it's chic, sophisticated and my new favorite place.
