Prolific restaurateurs John J Tunney III, his brother David Tunney and partner John Rieger completely reinvented their hot Huntington fixture at the height of its success. Days before demolition, first-time customers were still walking in, telling the men that the top Zagat-rated restaurant was the most beautiful they had ever seen. Eschewing dinnertime lines and a packed bar into the wee hours for a construction team, the partners simply felt ?it was time to make a change.? Dropping the oceanic ?Blue,? the space has become the hip, fun Honu Kitchen and Cocktails. The decor mixes new and vintage finds for an antique-chic vibe. Plush fabrics in rich reds, some woven with fleur de lis patterns, pair harmoniously with distressed leather. Enormous crystal chandeliers are fit for a ballroom while cast iron fixtures preside over a magnificent black marble topped bar. Since the renovation, the New York Times has rated Honu "Excellent" and one of the top Long Island restaurants for 2007.

Hated It!
By YourBasicDJ on 10/30/2008
A group of us try to go to a nice restaurant at lease once a year for the heck of it and we hated this place. Way too crowded and cramped and not enough food for the price. I think we actually hit Mickey D's on the way home. I can't even tell you what I ate, that's how memorable the food was.

Fun

A group of friend decided to try the new Blue Honu. We loved it the pumpking tortellini was delicious, as was the french fries and mac and cheese. My toasted coconut martini was delicious. I loved the upscale but relaxed atmosphere. The dinner is served at this huge tables and you sit on these comfy couches with tons of room, and privacy. Cant wait to go again.

Very small food but BIG MONEY
By landsteam on 07/25/2007
The drinks are still good but the new food menu is not worth it. The new small plates are very small but expensive for what for get. I paid $13 for 5 small bite sizes steak slices, $9 for 6 tiny beets and $15 for 2 shrimps. I don't think most people would be happy with the new menu.

SO AWESOME!

If you ordered a full steak at any high class restaurant it would be $35!!! Instead, Honu is a GREAT deal-- I had delicious bites of four different things and paid only $40 with a cocktail!! Love the new vibe- it's chic, sophisticated and my new favorite place.
