THE BEST SERVICE EVER!!!
By geemoney2010 on 02/09/2007
Good day, usually I will write a review the moment I leave a restaurant. I actually let this marinate for a while, as I was extremely impressed with our server on Saturday 2/3/2007, and wanted to write a more than positive review. From when we walked in and had our coats checked, to the moment our server; who will remain nameless until the end, helped us put our coats on, shake my hand good bye, and walked us to the door, it was amazing.
It was our first time in your restaurant. Our first impression, WHOA!
Service began with a smile and an "Aloha" greeting. The server pulled my wife's chair out, placed the napkin in her lap, and introduced himself. He asked if we had been before, and when we said no, he immediately welcomed and thanked us for coming out. With recommendations of coconut martinis, and other cocktails, we conceded and ordered as he suggested. They were fabulous. He also suggested "VOSS," which we gladly accepted. After cocktails and water arrived, he boisterously went over the specials, outlined every detail of the dishes and pointed out so profoundly what Blue Honu was all about. His speech was so great, that I memorized the first few sentences, "Chef George and I suggest a succession of courses this evening which will entertain the palate, satisfy the craving, and leave a lasting impression upon you, ultimately letting you folks know what we here at Blue Honu, are all about." I mean, WOW. Who says that? So, we took his advice, and said order away. We were to begin with the Bento Box, only immediately he arrives with espresso cups with crab and corn bisque. Nice touch. Soon after, our Bento Box arrives and that was awesome. Presentation was a 10 as our server explained what everything in the Bento Box was, poured our soy sauce and said "Bon appetit."
He then cleared the dishes, which I thought was odd considering it was Saturday, and there were Buss-boys, but he did it. I like that. He cleared from the right, which is proper French service. Now on our second round of cocktails, we then were graced with our second course. The Mixed greens salad, split for two. The perfect amount I might add, and as our server said, it was a palate pleaser. When we finished, he came over and said, ÂBefore I have your main course come out, there is a wine that is going to compliment Chef Georges divine creationsÂ
Since we were having that tremendous rib eye and lobster tail, I thought why not. Our server said the words; ÂFerrari Carrano, Napa Valley Cabernet, and we have it for half of what other restaurants are charging. Open it up, were my exact words. I love that wine. He graciously re-sets our table with fresh linen and silverware; two red wine glasses and then went for the wine. His presentation was on-point, and he poured the taste just as the food arrives. After I taste, and accept, he pours to my wife and then to me, again correct. Our steak came sliced and the lobster as well. The wine was, as he described, Âan explosive combination with the rib eye. Well, dinner was done, the wine was gone, and I realized, our water glasses were full, the table impeccable, and set up for coffee and dessert before he even talked about it. I never had to ask him for anything. All night. We actually were too full for dessert, but we ordered coffee, and our server sent over, Malosados, with compliments and thanks of everyone at Blue Honu. They were delicious. He then dropped the check with tootsie-rolls and said, Âfolks it was a pleasure to have spent the evening dining with you. I hope you had a truly wonderful time and I look forward to seeing you again here at Blue Honu. Mahalo. Then, he took the coat check tickets off the table, and after I paid the check, he arrived with out coats only to help us put them on, shake my hand and walk us out. I have to tell you, I have been around for a while. I have dined everywhere in New York, and all over the world on business. Nothing compared to your restaurant, and no one can hold a candle to this guy. His nameÂ
Jason.
I will be back.
