Rate and Write a Review With literally hundreds of Italian restaurants on Long Island, it's sometimes difficult to pick one where the food is as authentic as the atmosphere. Founded in 1976, King Umberto is actually two restaurants in one, and they're both superlative. The formal dining room is straight outta 'The Godfather,' with the plush furnishings, oil paintings and mood lighting you'd expect from an upscale Italian. But while the gnocchi in Umbriana sauce may bring out the boot in you, it's the pizza that has foodies flocking from all directions. Available in two sizes, 10-inch and 16-inch, Nicola Cesarano's culinary repertoire includes a Boscoreale pie with spinach crust, special sauce, black olives, artichokes and fresh mozzarella. But if you're heading for the Italian Riviera and don't want to outgrow your bikini (or Speedo), Nicola also makes a low-carb alternative with fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil -- add some peppers and onions, and that's amore.
