You don't have to know the difference between sashimi and maki, or that ''gunkan'' (which means ''battleship'') is a special type of nigiri-sushi that incorporates dried seaweed and seasoned rice. All you need to enjoy the casual-style dining at this Japanese newcomer is an appreciation for authentic fresh food and a willingness to wait it out on the buffet line (the full-service dining experience can be found at the restaurant's Manhattan location in the East Village). In addition to the sushi samplers, guests will be able to try all of the restaurant's specialties in one sitting, from fire-grilled chicken teriyaki and tempura with spicy cream sauce to Chilean sea bass with black bean sauce, seafood Thai curry and, naturally, miso soup. Desserts are not given short shrift here, with a refreshing selection of fruits, cakes and other assorted delicacies to cleanse your palate. Not a bad makeover for a place that used to house video games and pre-teen parties, as the former Nathan's.

One of the best

Don't listen to what these naysayer say about this place. The scummy people who marked this place down are types of idiots that would ask for their money back on a jigsaw puzzle since they'll claim "its broken" Anyways...I've been to Sushi park a number of times, the food is wonderful, the service is great (could be a bit faster with getting the checks) and I've even proposed to my fiancee there.

Its good people......

All I have to say is that it is pretty good. Of course it is not the "best", what do you want chef Morimoto making it to order? And as one review I read was correct. It is fresh. You will not see lines and lines of the same roll, and there are about 5- 6 guys back there making different rolls, while some of you miserable pigs will complain while stuffing your mouth. I cannot believe people saying that $14.99 is expensive..... What planet are you from. It is not Kotobuki, which is to me hands down the best, but to go there and not only have the sushi, but have a lot of nice cold salads (also not much because it is freshly made constantly), and the hot stuff such as very good tempura, and that sort of thing. If it was bad, I would say it, but its not, it is pretty good. I wouldn't take out a client to there and rave about it before hand, as to get their hopes up, as if it is awesome, but comeon guys..... I took 4 people there including myself, we each had a soda (free refills and Big Glasses) and it was like $75.00 with tip. If that is expensive to you people, especially compared to a la carte, you people should stay indoors and talk to your cats! Staff is friendly, but nothing to write home about. Probably because miserable fat complainers tip them like 7% because its "buffet". Think about it, they actually do more work, tip what you would at a restaurant. And if you leave pieces of food within reason on the plate, they don't say anything. They just don't want some of these Jerk Offs taking a whole roll of each and then deciding you don't like it, or people who take the fish off the top and leave the rice. They have a seperate sashimi (just fish for those people as well) Ok, I'm done venting, I just feel that they need some defense. If you don't like it, I won't give you your money back, but trust me. It's woth it.
