Decorated with the work of local artists, and lit by handsome brass lamps, The Meeting House harks back to the days of whaling, when the Hamptons were awash with lively coaching inns and strange Melville-like characters. Sit at the bar and watch the action from behind a pint of lager, or fight for a table and order one of the many reasonably priced entrees, including a steak au poivre for under $20 -- a price East Hampton residents will no doubt enjoy getting used to.
