Cities like New York, Chicago and San Francisco are famous for their jazz scenes, but what about Los Angeles? Where's our jazz scene? Well folks, if it's anywhere it's here, at the world famous (sort of) Baked Potato. Featuring loud, surly jazz seven nights a week, the Baked Potato is about as close as LA gets to venues like Small's in New York or Yoshi's in San Francisco. Forget smooth jazz or that stuff you hear on the speakers at Third Street Promenade, this is down and dirty beboppin', don't-stop-until-you-reach-the-top and then some jazz. So leave your intimate conversations at the door, slap some Brill Creme in your hair, wrangle yourself a dirty martini and prepare yourself to be amazed.

The Baked Potato was one of my most cherished memories as a young Hollywood Whippersnapper.. I sat Two feet from Count Basie while he serenaded me (at my Aunties request).. Later that night we partied with Billie Eckstine, who delighted me for the rest of the evening. What a treat, and I will never forget it as long as I live.
