Once the toast of Tinseltown, the Florentine Garden has a history that includes some of the most glamorous scenes and shows of early Hollywood. Now the Hollywood Boulevard native makes its living serving the 18-and-over set as one of the hottest dance clubs on the circuit. Guests enter through an ornate entrance that has seen its share of '60s, '70s and '80s redecoration. The dance floor is as big as they come, surrounded by an expansive bar area that is usually off limits to its underage guests. Music is brought via deejays rather than the live shows of yesteryear and there are weekly promotions from Power 106, the club's loyal radio station. Music ranges from hip- hop to Latin, along with pop, funk and trance house mixes. The crowd is diverse with folks from the outer valleys, beach cities or just down the street. While the bar is not truly Florentine and is without a garden, few places cater to an 18 and older dance crowd than this Hollywood landmark. -- Michael Martin
