M.A.S.H. meets Westside chic as Good Hurt turns an area drinking hole into a pharmaceutical-themed sanctuary. An otherwise rundown bar is disguised with a hospital costume and lavishes locals tired of dives with a perky theme. Dark lighting separates guests from the congestion of Venice Boulevard, transitioning them quickly inside the cozy bar. Patrons order their liquid prescriptions from bartenders dressed as sexy nurses and practitioners. Those new to the bar are giddy with amusement and revel over the Red Cross decorations and medical terminology throughout the bar. With drink in hand, guests choose between a game of billiards or simply lounging in the not-so-comfy chaise lounges. Although dark all day, nighttime recruits a DJ to the turntables, mixing a vintage jam of everything from Latin techno to English punk rock. The crowd varies between drunk regulars who eventually try monopolizing the bar staff to cool Venice surfers that get hustled at the pool tables. Either way, Good Hurt is a great bar for the Westside in desperate need of nightlife resuscitation.
