Away from the tourist areas of the Third Street Promenade and Santa Monica Pier, set on the parade of the towering palms of Ocean Ave., a contemporary boutique hotel is making a name for itself. Upon approach, the ever-so-soft yellow exteriors sooth the eyes and allow a subtle tropical feel to set in, minus the humidity. The lobby is airy and open with large panels of glass, giving an almost Miami South Beach feel to the locale. The service is all that can be wished for in a small hotel yet also includes those of a full-scale chain. The atrium pool offers privacy and seclusion and is a great contrast to the in-your-face beach community. Some rooms have ocean views, but even without them, the hotel has plenty of charm.
