A Manhattan-style high rise towering above Wilshire, this newest addition to the DoubleTree chain was formerly a Holiday Inn. With a remodeled lobby and re-energized rooms, it offers a metropolitan feel and a great location near UCLA, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and the entire Westside. The hotel has 25 floors with sweeping vistas of the Holmby Hills and Bel Air area; the city lights in the evening can be amazing on a clear day. The hotel caters to the corporate traveler with its business center, in room data ports and fax machines. While pleasantly priced, with specials and discounts almost always available, this establishment presents a sophisticated atmosphere and a prime location. -- Michael Martin
