Rate and Write a Review In a tribute to Hollywood past and present, King King provides an old world atmosphere and location for the blue blood live performances and vintage sound it hosts. Depending on the night, guests enter already titillated by the free parking provided behind the club. Reminiscent of a New York jazz scene, visitors walk through a passageway and into the thoroughly remodeled vintage landmark of nightlife and Hollywood style. Deep shades of red compliment the exposed brick walls, lending an air of power to the musical bar and club. Live entertainment alternates between a soul-inspired jukebox playing Nina Simone and local Fishbone to live acts and numbers that include everything from Brazilian and Latin to ska and rock. While the actual size of King King is substantially larger and more upscale than its ancestral home back on La Brea Boulevard, the new location features the same attention to detail that became synonymous with owner Mario Melendez. Weekends offer the rolling up of the makeshift stage for star DJs and guest talent imported to entertain the masses. An oasis of red nightlife and bachelor-style bar, King King returns to the heart of Hollywood more glamorous than ever. -- Michael Martin
