From humble beginnings in 1979 to a stage where comics from throughout the world dream of playing, the Laugh Factory is truly a place of Hollywood legend. Still owned and operated by Jamie Masada, who has been a huge mentor to countless superstars of comedy over the years, it has showcased nearly every major star of its time, with Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Jay Leno, David Letterman, Tim Allen, Drew Carey, Adam Sandler and literally dozens of other big names having played before (and often after) they hit the big time. Seating capacity is 280 and the joint is usually full most nights, so advance reservations are always a good idea. Throughout the week, they offer various themed evenings of comedy, with open mike nights, Latino and African-American showcases among the most popular ones. Weekends are usually devoted to the bigger names, with around four to eight comics each night. Perhaps some of the magic comes from the building itself, which once hosted Groucho Marx's film offices, but whatever the reason, this is one of the few sure bets in a crowded comedy field for top-notch laughs.

The Josh and Myo Show is sensational
By Adyvern on 04/13/2009
I am so glad I got VIP passes off of JoshuaEscandon.com because when I reached, the crowd was incredible. Everyone had come to become a part of the Josh and Myo Show and thankfully I reached early because it would have been impossible otherwise to get seats of any sort. The show began with brilliance and I just knew that they have something new up their sleeve yet again. Unlike other live comedy shows, they do not go about with the same routine all over the place. Josh and Myo have a large number of fans who come in regularly. This makes it imperative that their set is unique and they manage to pull it off every week. I cannot imagine the amount of work that goes into their act every Friday. They also bring on the most amazing guests who have this knack of bringing us to our knees and begging them to stop, so that we can breathe. I can tell you this that my face was completely red by the time I got out of the show. I loved every minute of it.

I'm a fan of food and comedy and this place was top notch in both. Definitely will come back. I found the little Asian manager hella funny.

Give me a dose of them laughs
By yameyesosexy on 01/13/2009
I love me some laughs and boy was the Laugh Factory the place to be. The people there were gracious and kind. The service was a bit slow, but who could blame them? The house was packed. They have some well known headliners, but also the lesser known comedians. They were funny as hell anyways, well worth the money. I highly recommend this place for sure.
