In ShortThis converted apartment building-turned-nightclub offers West Hollywood 20-somethings what most of its trendy neighbors don't: A come-as-you-are hangout where you can knock back fairly cheap drinks, dance the night away and eat better-than-decent bar food. Appetizers ranging from hummus pizza and artichoke dip to seared ahi tuna are suprisingly gourmet, as are entrees like New Zealand lamb chops and grilled cheese-with-bacon sandwiches. Atmospheric options also suit most any mood: The fireplace room is where laidback locals sink into comfy sofas, snacking on pretzels and watching reruns on wall-mounted TVs; the candlelit lounge has DJs spinning as giggling patrons give it a whirl on the stripper's pole; and out back, smokers and stargazers take advantage of the split-level "grotto" bar.
