Melisse Restaurant   

This is, by far, the best restaurant in America. I have taken friends there, who have said they have only had better meals at three star Michelin restaurants in France. Yes, it is expensive; and yes it is worth it. The quality of the ingredients is amazing, and it is nice to see fine dining (not NY snob dining) in L A. The wait staff is gracious, and the cooking is beyond compare. Yes, if you order a menu degustation, all at your table must have it. That makes it easier on the kitchen, and also makes your meal more gracious (you really want to be stuffing your face while others wait for their food). Do NOT go here if you want a self-centred dining experience (unless you go alone). But if you want the graciousness of fine dining (that is an endanger species), you will enjoy Melisse immensely. And if you don't want a menu degustation, there are plently of main course to satisfy your whim. I went with a deicated American carnivore, and the side of beef (well, at least it seem like that much to me), was delicious. This restaurant is for the cognosenti, and for those willing to pay for one of the most gracious experiences of their lives. As far as price goes, you would lose this much gaming or in the stock market in one day and not be upset; here, at least, you will have a memorable experience for your money.

This is the only resturant in the United States that I have found that compares to such Parisan resturants as la Tour d'Argent and Taillevent. Pricy but Excellent!

It is rare that a restaurant lives up to its hype. Mellise most certainly does. A young energic chef Josiah is consistant and outstanding. A rare treat when food service & atmosphere are all superb. A don't miss selection. My favorite restaurant.
