Melisse Restaurant   

The food was excellent, much better than JiRaffe. Also, they don't have the bad attitude that people at JiRaffe have. The waiter did "suggested" the tasting menu, but we did not order that, and they were fine about it.

The food at Melisse is fantastic and VERY PRICEY. The thing that really upset me is that everybody at the table must order the Tasting Menu or you have to order a la carte. I eat at Joe's and Patina and they let me order it just for me. The tasting menus are a good deal and I will never be able to try them because my wife is a vegetarian. I bet that if I came alone they would let me order it. I am confused and upset. Beautiful room, friendly staff. Stay out of the booths, they are a foot off the floor and the waiters can't reach to clear plates from the back of the table. A lady in our party fell down trying to get out of the booth. They seated the Times food critic at a regular table. Close to $100.00 a person with a glass of wine.

For a brand new restaurant only 3 months old, they are doing a creditable job in getting their act together. I am sure Melisse will soon be the class act of Los Angeles.

Tried the sample menu, everything was excellent-fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Loved the intimate atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it to all my friends.
