Rate and Write a Review A dressed-up version of its predecessor Woody's Hyperion, Mj's makes a name for itself with little attitude, cheap liquor and a contingent of musky muscle-men, lending it true East Side charm. Not showing any sign of growing pains, the club manages to attract a fairly large crowd for its weekend dance clubs Anthem and Margarita Sundays (great DJs and $2 margaritas and beer). Not just a neighborhood watering hole, Mj's attracts gay singles across LA looking for a change from the usual Hollywood and West Hollywood scenes. The overall atmosphere is sleek and industrial, utilizing the shine of raw metals and less-than-perfect design edges to create a space that is modern yet comfortable. More about the bartenders than the shape of the bar, MJ's shows up its competitors with Brutus look-alikes who pour the meanest martinis in town.
