Mood   

Island-chic to the very last detail, Mood is the brainchild of David Juken, the impresario who took a once-defunct Garden of Eden and turned it into one of the hottest scenes in town. But don't expect to find "Garden of Eden, the Sequel" within the walls of Mood. Although close in proximity to the historic Garden of Eden, Mood is a minimalist mix of streamline design and ancient iconography. The eclectic meeting of these two worlds begins just inside the hand-carved front door, which gives way to a contemporary space replete with Balinese-inspired touches. Infinity bells decorate the ceiling while modern hip-hop music plays and decked-out Hollywood things sip cocktails, creating a contrast of the eternal and the oh-so-now. What the time and place is really all depends on which direction you're looking in. Mood caters to LA's A-list party scene that is currently on the move. The club's events read like a page from a trendy tabloid; look for a line-up dotted with celebrity promotions (which cover-garnering celebs do actually show for). While getting through the door on a Saturday night might take a little luck, it never hurts to pay tribute to the bouncers or call ahead for bottle service.
