Beatles fans have the Cavern Club, Elvis fans have Graceland, Melissa Etheridge fans have Que Sera in Long Beach. Etheridge played solo acoustic shows to packed houses at this mid-size bar in the 80s. After she became a successful rocker, she thanked Que Sera by giving the place one of her gold records. The record sits behind the bar and Etheridge fans still come here to see where it all began. But its much different. First of all, its no longer a lesbian bar, although its still gay friendly. Second, the place has been remodeled several times. The most current facelift gives it a gothic-tinged hue with red lights and black painted walls. Deejays spin techno and industrial on various nights. Rock bands also frequently gig there. Lets see if this place spawns another Etheridge. -- Andrew Asch

Although the Goth and New wave nights are great, there's also a lot more going on at the Que Sera. FREE live bands every Wednesday night. always something different, definitely worth checking out. Cheap strong drinks made by the friendliest bar staff in Long Beach.
