Nightlife marauders searching for a bit of Britannica bar atmosphere aren't likely to hear London calling at the Cat and Fiddle Pub and Restaurant. Sure, there's the requisite Boddington's on tap, Union Jack decor and bangers and mash on the menu, but the proliferation of Sunset hipsters, fading rockers and celebrity-hunting tourists knocks down the venue's UK authenticity a peg. Instead of engaging in heated arguments over dark glasses of Guinness about Tottenham's chances against Arsenal, the Cat and Fiddle's guests swirl martinis and yell about the trades over a constant cell phone cacophony. Inside the Cat and Fiddle are two large rooms where guests can sit in booths or at tables and chat while perusing the menu, which includes such medium-priced pub grub as grav lax, rarebit sandwiches, regular and vegetarian shepherd's pie and Cornish pasty. Most, however, decide to wait it out for a table in the pub's outdoor courtyard, which features a glowing fountain, overhanging trees, its own bar and more low-riding leather than you can shake a pint at. Cat and Fiddle adds a musical component to its Sunday nights with an evening devoted to live jazz music.

Bangers and Mash
By Rushtown on 06/07/2008
Try an English Breakfast---the Bangers (sausages), English style, are great. I had an English friend take me a few times and I always found the service to be prompt and courteous. And I'm Irish American so if Brits need to be criticized I'm the man to do it. Andrew Smyth

Great place to chill
By jilian626 on 04/18/2006
This is the perfect bar to get a bunch of friends together in the summer. The patio is extra large with a lot of tables and heat lamps. The crowd is a young Hollywood group without the attitude of Sunset. The wait staff is always friendly and on their game. Go around happy hour or earlier in the night to avoid the cover charge.

The Best Summer Spot
By snapp134 on 02/08/2006
I love this place, especially during the summer when the patio is a great hang. I was just there for my birthday this week and had a blast! And compared to the rest of Hollywood the prices are super reasonable and the staff isn't super snotty.

Cheap? Not the least
By medicineeagle on 09/08/2005
I use to go there years ago and after reading this report on how cheap the drinks were I decided to go. What a waste of money and time. They were rude, the service sucked and the drinks were weak. I think I will stick looking for a cleaner better bar with better service.
