Scotland Yard   

I love this place. It's very easy-going and CHEAP. I've been there a few times now, and I've had a blast each night. The most recent time, the place was full of laid-back young college-age types playing pool and knocking back Newcastles (which is on tap, along with a fine assortment of other beers; no liquor here, folks; just beer, wine, and sake). I've been in my share of bars in LA, but I've never been to one with a real DJ playing everything from Huey Lewis to Minor Threat, the Misfits to the New York Dolls. The only thing I could really complain about is that the men's bathroom is disgusting and the stall has no door (and only half a partition). So as long as you can refrain from answering nature's call (or if you're too drunk to care who's watching when you do), this place is absolutely fantastic for a few pints. And if you happen to find yrself in the mood for a few cocktails, you can very easily walk two doors down to Casey's, another fine establishment.
