Regardless of whether Long Beach is considered the hot, up-and-coming destination of the moment or a cultural no-man's land (and, as Angelenos know, the pendulum of public opinion swings back and forth rather rapidly on this issue), Belmont Brewing manages to maintain its rep as a fun bar with a great location, tasty food and superb beer dinners. Life is good when you're ensconced at an ocean view table beneath an umbrella, enjoying Baja-style fish tacos or fried calamari with a pint of Strawberry Blonde or Long Beach Crude. It's even better when you're four courses (and pints) into one of Belmont's legendary beer dinners, with a rich dessert and a final glass of stout to get through before you can put your head on the table and get some much-needed Zs. Beers from all 'round the world are incorporated into the beer dinners. The set menu provides a perfect complement, though one could have nearly as good luck selecting at random from the variety of pastas, grilled items and creative appetizers on the extensive regular menu.
