Rate and Write a Review Immortalized by the film 'Swingers' (and perhaps the line, "This place is dead anyway"), the Dresden is one of LA's most well-known bars/lounges. The clientele changes with the trends: When swing was the thing, the place was packed full of bowling-shirt-wearing twentysomethings and plenty of "beautiful babies." Now that it's not, it features a mixed bag of out-of-towners, hipster locals and the clad-in-black set. Drinks are notably pricey and parking can be difficult, but if you're into the Dresden's signature act, Marty and Elayne, it can all be worth it. A lounge-singing duo that play everything from the Bee Gees to the Beastie Boys, Marty and Elayne are uplifting to some and downright depressing to others. Your point of view depends on whether you consider the fact that they've been doing this for decades an example of perseverance in the name of art or desperation due to lack of real talent. Either way you slice it, Marty and Elayne and the Dresden are unlike anything else in LA.
