If price is your number one object in choosing an electronics superstore, Fry's is by and large the best place. That is, they nearly always trump their competitors (keep your eyes open for their newspaper ads, which run some incredible specials), but the enormous store can be tough to wade through. Lines are often long, and customer service can be tough to grab, though they are known for being rather helpful when you do reach them. The selection is truly enormous, far bigger than at a Best Buy or Good Guys, but an experience here can be overwhelming, and can feel akin to stumbling into a warehouse. Although Fry's is known for an extensive selecton of computer hardware, you also may wander through aisles of kitchen appliances, TVs, stereos, home theater systems, DVDs, CDs, and computer and game-system software. For electro-kitsch value, each of their stores also has a cleverly decorated theme, such as Retro-Hollywood Space Flick, Ancient Rome, Egypt, 'Alice in Wonderland' or the Wild West. Fry's is not the place to walk into to pick up a quick blank tape unless you want to spend some time finding it and waiting in line, but patience here is rewarded with truly great prices.

Boo this place is no good if you dont bring someone that knows what the hell you are looking for or what yo need if it is electronics. The sales people are full of it and don't know jack. Fine girls although do work here which is a plus at least to look at something good while you shop

Geeks Dream, Suckers Nightmare
By carl8mrt on 09/02/2004
My recent visit to Fry'z was a pleasant experience. I found that there was enough customer representives to satisfy me. I went to buy some DVD movies and noticed how cheap they were and grew some what suspicious but I over-looked it. When I went to pay for them, there was a huge line so I decided to grab a coke and and wondered the entire store. It took me a while but I managed to find many things I thought I could use. When I returned to the check-out line the line vanished and I went straight to a cashier who was friendly. On a final note, I could imagine having to return something that may be disfunctional but if you know all the tips you wouldn't have the problem.

the only game in town

Fry's has everything and they know it. It's not really a place for people that dont' know what they want. The service is scrappy, as they are obviously underpaid. Think home depot but for computers. We can only hope that they get some real competition... I dropped 2 grand building a pc..and I wish they would have been nicer to me. If your ordering a simple e machine..just do it online.

Service is nonexistant
By susanmerchant on 08/27/2002
I found my shopping experience at Fry's to be a nightmare. The service is nonexistant and the sales persons are incredibly rude. The genral theme is 'it's not my fault' and, that's not my job. The discounts they offer are not sufficent to warrant shopping there. Shopping at Fry's is enough to provoke an anxiety attact in the sanest customer.......and after being sold a product that they assure is right for your system, finding that it doesn't work or is incompatible, just try taking it back. I returned an item, and was 15 minutes with the return cashier, who acted like I was trying to put one over on her, and looking for parts that were not included as if I had capriciosly removed them and failed to bring them back. her supervisor finally assured her that all that came with the item was there. Who needs this agrivation? Surely, I don't.
