Take a break from the beach and treat yourself to a reasonably priced meal. The Kettle, whose entrance is adorned with an abundance of flowers, has been around since the early '70s. Patrons are fond of the homemade bran muffins, Chinese chicken salad and bread pudding doused in whiskey sauce. The Guavamosa -- guava juice and champagne -- is a hot item. The management is particularly proud of its friendly and eclectic staff, but the patrons are just as diverse; if you go for lunch, you may see city council members gathered in one booth, surfers in the next and a family of four at a neighboring table. Past midnight, however, it's an altogether different scene -- bar-hoppers, vampire wannabes and dog-eyed insomniacs find refuge in the all-nighter. Breakfast is served all day.

Mimi's in a Pot
By balacpa1 on 03/01/2007
Let's be fair and balanced. The Kettle is a Mimi's Cafe with a different name. Check out the menu - it is Mimi's!!! I used to drive 35 miles to have a good breakfast at the beach and if Uncle Bills was fully booked I'd go to the Kettle until I realized the truth.

French Onion Soup
By graydon902 on 08/09/2006
They neglected to mention the French Onion Soup at the Kettle, which I will have any time of the year, even if it 110 degrees outside. By the way, the same family also owned the French Quarter in West Hollywood, and also founded Mimi's Cafes.
