The History: Since 1927, the charming and historical Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel has provided one of the top places to stay for Hollywood-bound tourists. The very first Academy Awards were held here, with many of the marquee names year-round guests of the hotel. The Scene: Along with its neighbor, the Grauman's Chinese Theater, as well as its access to tours of the stars' homes, the Roosevelt keeps you right in the thick of the entertainment world. The hotel even includes a small film museum with displays ranging from Cecil B. DeMille to 'Star Wars.' On the premises is a lounge that plays great jazz and adult contemporary music. Beware: Rumor has it that the hotel is haunted by none other than Marilyn Monroe. You can even rent her suite.
