With everything a good Italian restaurant should have: the aroma of simmering garlic, tiny red booths, inexpensive carafes of Mondavi and Pinot Grigio and Sicilian love ballads on continuous play mode, Bambino's stays a consistent heavy hitter. Banking on local interest in Italian cuisine since setting up shop in a Valley strip mall in 1974, Bambino's is good enough for "goodfellas," couples, parents, grandparents and any accompanying tomato-spattered toddlers, who bask in the warm dimness of the dining room, bantering over calzones while calmly decimating the small salad bar. Bambino's stays faithful to Italia, dishing up classics such as veal parmigiana, chicken tetrazzini with white sauce, prosciutto and mushrooms and mini-to-large-sized pizzas with a bona fide skill that has suspicious Italian mothers checking for missing recipes.
