Sushi Nazi West

The chef would not accept our request for "no cucumber" in our California roll- for this he gets the coveted "Sushi Nazi West" award.

Los Angeles magazine's #1 restaurant???!
By ryananker on 01/07/2005
I cannot believe Los Angeles magazine ranked Beacon the #1 restaurant in Los Angeles. I will forever question the legitimacy of their lists if they can declare this the best in L.A. with any sincerity. I convinced myself that the uncooked chicken wings and bland dish I had for lunch must have been because it was the first week Beacon opened. After the #1 ranking, I tried once more and it was equally disgusting. I have had many friends try this place and not one person has liked it. I’m not sure what is more disappointing…Beacon or Los Angeles magazine. No Stars for either!

oh well
By rbrtthomp on 09/12/2004
Thought it would be great. The place looks very cool. First we were seated in the back, and it was very hot and loud. The ceiling in the back is too low and confining so you feel like you're in a tin drum. The food was good, but the portions small. My tuna pizza was good, but the smallest pizza you've ever seen; maybe four inches round. My girlfriend really disliked the place, and couldn't get over the ice tea that seemed more like water than ice tea. We asked to be moved, and the outside patio was nice. We won't go back.

Try it!

Excellent food, great service and uncomplicated environment. I would highly recommend the Bento box entree which offers a sample of some of best dishes the restaurant has to offer. Save room for dessert because the selection is both innovative and unique in taste.
