Bluebird Bakery   

Located in an isolated stretch of Culver City, literally on the other side of the train tracks, Bluebird Bakery is an inviting country cafe catering to local and nearby business residents by way of homemade sweets, salads, soups and "pressed" sandwiches. Possessing the soul of a Norman Rockwell painting and the heart of Betty Crocker, Bluebird has yellow walls, counter service and arts and crafts on the inside, and a charming cluster of picnic tables on the outside. Co-owned by Vincent Trevino, Chris Marble and renaissance gal Audrey Bernstein (a reformed LA club promoter), Bluebird has an able menu, but its most memorable feature is its fondness for the fructose i.e. whole cakes, fruit juice-infused cupcakes, apple crisps, cobblers, banana puddings and petit fours that all contribute to the collective's blood sugar. Even though the small cafe can get a bit loud, special orders for goodies via takeout is a popular way to go. So if you want the buttercream frosting on your Valrhona chocolate cake whipped to perfection, dial the bakery in advance.
