Cherchez la France
By EhBleibe on 06/13/2008
This might have seemed like French fare to Angelinos until10 years ago. But now that L.A. is becoming a capital for foodies and refinement., one immediately understands that hte only French element in that restaureant are the names on the menu. Huge "American" portions, everything greasy and nothing refined. Cherchez la France.

Never Again
By peacemood on 10/06/2006
Made a reservation a week in advance and confirmed it twice with a specific request for a certain table. When we arrived there, we waited for 10 minutes at the hostess stand. The hostess walked up to her stand and ignored us and went back in as if we didn't exist. Once we said, we have a reservation and got a hold of her, she couldn't locate the reservation in the system and asked us to wait. She was very rude and condescending without ever apologizing for making us wait or unable to find the reservation. She sat us at a table which wasn't what we requested and they took another 15 minutes to bring water and bread. The food was ok but the service really needs to be looked at if they want to continue to operate this restaurant. Will never go there again, the worst ever.

Cafe Des HORIBLES!
By sblcsw on 02/19/2005
The service was probably the very worst I have ever encountered. The manager was completely unresponsive (& rude) when it came our valid complaints. We took the time to write a lengthy, cordial, but concerned letter to the restaurant owner and manager shortly thereafter but NEVER received any response. We are unable to comment about the food b/c it never came to our table until 10:30 pm (for an 8:30) reservation and we weren't going to eat a steak at that hour. Additionally, it was a set menu with hefty tariff due to Valentine's Day where one would think the service would be up to par for a supposedly "fine" restaurant. The restaurant manager, despite having been informed about the dispicable service at the time, did not apologize whatsoever, and let us walk out of the restaurant having not eaten. Truly, this is a restaurant to be avoided!

Hoping for more

It has a great atmosphere, but the food was questionable, the drinks weren't mixed well and the glasses smelled like old detergent. It was a disappointing experience.
