The Dal Rae is the Southern California restaurant where 1950s classics still reign. Lobster Thermidor, Pepper Steak, Chateaubriand, Prime Rib, Fresh Fish, Rack of Lamb, Steak Diane and Cherries Jubilee prepared tableside are among more than 100 items on a truly retro menu, complete with some of the city's best martinis. Opened in 1958, the Dal Rae has maintained its original atmosphere, too, right down to a piano bar with live entertainment and a dance floor. And, most important, it has preserved a tradition otherwise found only in private clubs -- knowing its customers by name and treating them like the most important people in the whole wide world. The Dal Rae is located close to the 5 freeway and half-way between LA County, Orange County and The Valley. It is a perfect location for business meetings or entertaining friends and family.

Unbiased, Non-Pro Review
By kusskinobe on 02/06/2007
I've been told about the Dal-Rae ever since I can remember by my family. After 30+ years I finally decided to try this -out-of-the-way spot and must admit I was pleasantly surprised. Do not let the asthetics outside fool you, this is one very classy joint. The food is traditional steakhouse but the service rivals that of VIP tables in Vegas. Of course their peppersteak is exquisite and the "Fish of the Day" should only be prepared "a la Ben". All of the sides are served family style so one will do for two which also applies to most of the desserts. The food here is rediculously good and the service should be a model for other places with names like people. Come very hungry and take a cab home so you can enter your coma right before you hit the front door...

HONEST REVIEW---Read Here
By donisland on 10/19/2006
SERVICE: The service is about the same as anywhere else - sometimes good, sometimes not so good. Plan on waiting a while for your food - it is slow. FOOD: The food is good, I give it a score of 4 out of 5. Good steaks and seafood - not up Morton's or Ruths Chris quality food, but still good. WAITING AREA: No place to sit - Small and cramped, other people bumping against you as they enter and leave the restaurant. VALET PARKING: $2.50 - You have no choice, you must valet park (or park way down the street). RESTAURANT DECOR: Furnished nicely, old fashioned style with nice decorations.
