Every college community has at least one establishment cherished by students campus-wide. The only two requirements for this coveted honor are good food and cheap prices. At UCLA, the honor goes to Diddy Riese. The name doesn't sound like much, but students in-the-know make study break pilgrimages to snack on unbelievably cheap fresh-baked cookies, muffins, brownies, Dreyers ice cream, hot dogs and cookie ice cream sandwiches -- with many treats under 50 cents or a buck. Sorority presidents stock up on dozens of goods for their houses, while USC students forgo school pride and line up in enemy territory for a taste. The spanking white, clean interior brings back so many memories for alumnae that they still go back after they've graduated. Those who know the place best avoid it during finals -- unless their sweet-tooth craving is so intense as to make joining the long line extending outside the store a necessity. -- Phuong-Cac Nguyen

I couldnt believe the prices! I had an ice cream cookie sandwich and brownies to go! SO I paid more for parking and gas to get there, but it was worth the trip! BROWNIES was Yummy! Try to get there when theres activities in the street so you can spend couple hours to digest your first trip because trust me you'll want another ice cream cookie sandwich before you leave the area!!!

The Best in Town!

Diddy Riese has to be one of the best deals in Westwood. It has brought me down many times from the campus to get my cookie fix. But they have other things tooo, dont forget to try their hot dogs and ice cream ... just dont have them together!

The real deal

Just as good as it was when I was at UCLA when they opened in the 80's. I always make one of two stops in Westwood. Diddy's for cookies or Stan's for their Reese's donut or blueberry buttermilk cake donut. Long lines, but they move suprisingly fast. Well worth the drive, the lines, and the calories...
