Restored to its former turn-of-the-century glory in 1989, Fair Oaks Pharmacy & Soda Fountain reminds you that there was actually a time when one-stop shopping didn't mean massive, overly lit aisles, too many choices and the drone of a loudspeaker. On the contrary, Fair Oaks is a place where you can pick up deodorant for yourself, a toy for your young 'un, a nice card for your neighbor or even a walker for whoever needs it -- and best of all, it doesn't take over fifteen minutes to get from one end of the store to the other. Also you can reward yourself for shopping-well-done with a trip to the lunch counter which serves all the good stuff you could get in California back in the '30s, including grilled cheese sandwiches, triple-decker clubs, egg creams and hand-dipped milkshakes. There are also a few things you couldn't get back then like the "Very, Very" veggieburger and chili cheese dogs -- at least you hope those gastronomical challenges haven't been around for 70 years Tip: It's been said before, but we're really, really serious this time. Save room for dessert. The sundaes are unbelievably huge and excellent.

This is the place to go if you want to be treated rudely and ignored. I've lived in the area for over 10 years. Have been here a few times. But, the last couple of times have been horrendous. The wait staff needs to be replaced. Better yet, if you go East on Fair Oaks there's a place called " Soda Jerks" we had heard about it for years, but felt loyal to the pharmacy. After waiting for 15 minutes and still no acknowledgement, we left fairoaks and went up there. The at Soda Jerks was food was good and the kids got to sit at the counter enjoyed a movie that was on the television above the counter and had great ice cream. Don't waste your time on Fairoaks pharmacy or you'll quick become part of the antiquity waiting to be served there.

In North Orange County, you can find Watson's. Closer and friendly staff ait to serve you. Just east of the circle in Orange, Ca on Chapman Ave.

It's "Just O.K."

this place is just OK, yes it's a bit on the pricey side, but it's the price youpay for the nostalgic feel of eating here. Plus the fact that they used this place for movies, check out Teen Wolf! Ice Cream wise they use the best which is Fosselman's Ice Cream in Alhambra, CA (www.fosselmans.com) But if you want to be seen, this is the place to be! If you bring your dog, there is outside seating which is convenient.

not as friendly as they seem..

me and 3 friends came in and waited for 30 minutes as the young wait staff weaved in and out around us, avoiding us and staring at us menacingly. Whether or not its because we werent caucasian, ill never know. All i do know is, after being ignored to practically being marred as a potential criminal, i dont think ill be coming back here again.
